New Delhi, At present no one has bedtime during the day. People avoid sleeping during the day due to busy lifestyle. Of course, a recent study of the benefits of daytime breastfeeding reveals interesting facts.
A new study claims that if pre-school children fall asleep during a nursery or pre-primary school day, it may be beneficial for their mental development. So far, little research has been done on the relationship between sleep, memory development and literacy skills.
But now a new study has found that daytime sleep can be beneficial for preschool children to learn Letters Sound skills.
The study, conducted by researchers at Macquarie University in Australia and the University of Oxford in the UK, York and Sheffield, found that daytime nap develops the ability of preschool children to learn letter sound aloud. That subject was investigated.
Hua-Chen Wang, a lecturer at Macquarie University’s School of Education, points out that taking a nap after learning can facilitate the ability to apply new information to new tasks. We found that children had a positive effect on learning letter-sound mappings and especially using this knowledge of reading unfamiliar words.
The findings of this study are published in the journal Child Development. Six children aged 3-4 years from two daycare centers in Sydney regularly participated in the study. These children were not formally taught the names of letters or sounds by daycare centers. Each child participated in seven sessions over two to four weeks.SSS
