Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India outlines its future operations for India – Global Resource Factory (Manesar) to become export hub for HMSI
Gurugram, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) today unveiled its outline of a progressive plan towards business transformation for futuristic and alternative transport. At the same time, the company aims to further strengthen its Manesar (Haryana) plant as a global resource factory for ‘Making in India for the World’.
In addition, HMSI has accelerated the development of fuel-efficient products to boost export performance. As part of this plan, the company plans to phase out and integrate flex-fuel technology into its product portfolio.
The entry level motorcycle category will continue to have a significant share in the total sales of 2 wheelers in India. Taking advantage of this opportunity, HMSI will introduce new low-end motorcycles in the commuter segment to serve the people.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Atsushi Ogata, Managing Director, President and CEO, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, said, “Combining Honda’s global expertise with strong indigenous support will further expand HMSI’s operations in India.
The phased implementation of Flex-Fuel technology and the introduction of various EV models in the future will make the journey rewarding and exciting. At the same time, by spreading its wings abroad, HMSI aims to serve the more developed countries with the highest level of its international quality standards. ”

Bringing happiness to the low-end customer segment
HMSI plans to introduce low-cost motorcycles by expanding its operations in the entry-level two-wheeler segment. The new offer will facilitate safe and reliable daily transactions for its customers.
Flex fuel technology and electric mobility
With over a decade of expertise in flex fuel technology in the world and over 7 million satisfied customers in Brazil, HMSI is poised to bring easy flex fuel transformation to the two-wheeler market in India.
While HMSI plans to introduce various EV models in the coming years, it will get support from Honda’s other subsidiaries in the country. The company is currently in the feasibility study phase for its range of EV models and is developing a complete ecosystem in India.
Safety – the basis for future growth of HMSI
Honda looks forward to zero traffic collisions involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles by the year 2050. With an international vision, HMSI is enhancing the performance of its safety targets, including awareness and morning training initiatives.
