New Delhi, An important decision has come from the Supreme Court in the Sheena Bora murder case. The court has granted bail to Indrani Mukherjee, the main accused in the case. The apex court said he had already been in jail for 2.5 years. A bench of Justices L Nageshwar Rao, BR Gawai and AS Bopanna passed the order.
Mukherjee was arrested by Mumbai police on August 9, 2013 on charges of murdering his daughter Sheena.
The court said that Indrani Mukherjee has been in custody for 2.5 years. We have not commented on the merits of the case. Although 50% of the witnesses have been acquitted by the prosecution, the case will not be completed soon. He has been granted bail. The Supreme Court said,
The conditions applicable to Peter Mukherjee will also apply to Indrani.
The CBI case is that Mukherjee killed Bora with the help of her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna, current husband Peter Mukherjee and driver Shyamvar Rai.
Mukherjee’s bail plea was rejected by the Bombay High Court in November 2012, after which an appeal was lodged in the High Court. Mukherjee was represented in the court by senior counsel Mukul Rohatgi and was represented by Additional Solicitor General SV Raju from CBI. Ss2kp
