London,Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is currently on a tour of London where he is attending various functions. His statements there have caused political turmoil in the country.
Meanwhile, during his speech at Cambridge University, an Indian official present there taught him a lesson on the nation, India and the national religion of Chanakya. The official himself shared the video on Twitter. During his visit to London, Rahul Gandhi first attended the ‘Ideas for India’ conference.
This was followed on Monday by a program at Cambridge University. In a dialogue session with the students, Rahul Gandhi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for India was not inclusive. His vision excludes a large section of the country’s population.
This is inappropriate and against the idea of India. He discussed a wide range of topics such as Hindu nationalism, the role of the Gandhi family within the Congress party and efforts to unite the people of the country with students of Indian descent during a program called ‘India at 8’ at Corpus Christi College.
Indian Civil Service Officer Siddharth Verma shared a video of how he responded to Rahul Gandhi’s views during a program in Cambridge. Verma is an Indian Railways Transport Services Officer and is currently a Commonwealth Research Scholar on the subject of ‘Public Police’ at Cambridge University.
Verma told Rahul Gandhi, referring to Article One of the Constitution, that India is a union of states, but if you turn the page of the Constitution, the preamble mentions that India is a nation. India is one of the oldest living civilizations in the world. The word nation is in the Vedas.
We have a very ancient civilization. So much so that when Chanakya taught the students in Takshashila he also made it clear to them that they may be residents of different districts but in the end they belong to one nation, which is India. He can be heard saying all this in a video shared by Verma on Twitter. SS2KP
