Islamabad, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, in his first address to the nation, once again sang the tune of Kashmir. He called for the reinstatement of Article 50 in Jammu and Kashmir in India.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan said that for peace in Asia, India should restore the status quo in Jammu and Kashmir as it was before August 8, 2014 and reverse its decision on Article 50. So that the issue of Jammu and Kashmir can be resolved through dialogue.
According to the report, Shahbaz Sharif said that India has a responsibility to repeal the unilateral and illegitimate decision of August 9, 2018 for the promotion of peace in Asia. So that the issue of Jammu and Kashmir can be resolved through dialogue.
“Why do we want our future generations to suffer,” Shahbaz Sharif was quoted as saying by PTI. Let us resolve the issue in accordance with the UN resolutions and the expectations of the Kashmiris. So that we can end poverty on both sides of the border.
After becoming the Prime Minister of Pakistan in April this year, Shahbaz Sharif also raised the issue of Jammu and Kashmir in his inaugural address to the country’s National Assembly. It may be recalled that on August 8, 2016, India repealed Article 50 of the Constitution and terminated the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. The decision raised tensions between India and Pakistan.
In his address, Shahbaz Sharif said that his government was compelled to raise fuel prices to save Pakistan from going bankrupt. Pakistan had on May 5 hiked the prices of petroleum products by Rs 50 per liter.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has blamed his previous Imran government for the country’s poor economy. “We have changed a corrupt government at the behest of the people,” he said.
