ENYA Breen’s last-gasp try gave Ireland sweet revenge over Scotland with a 15-14 win in the final game of the 2022 TikTok Women’s Six Nations.
It was Scotland who broke Irish hearts last year with a late win to knock them out of the World Cup qualifying.
But Ireland got their revenge at the Kingspan Stadium as Breen converted her own score in the 85th minute.
Scotland had looked set for a comeback win, Helen Nelson kicking three second-half penalties to give them a six-point buffer, but right at the death they faltered, finishing their 2022 campaign winless and picking up the Wood Spoon.
They had got off to a flyer as Evie Gallagher powered over just three minutes in.
After winning a penalty in the Ireland 22, the visitors went to the corner and from a rolling maul got all the way to the line before Gallagher picked and forced her way over.

The Scots looked the better side early on but Ireland grew into the half, Breen signalling her threat with a searing break followed by an ambitious offload considering the sodden conditions.
But when Scotland strayed offside just inside their own territory, Ireland got on the board, No.8 Hannah O’Connor hammering a penalty over from 40 metres out to make it 5-3.
Scotland had been under a lot of pressure and eventually it told as Ireland went to the corner just before half-time and set up an unstoppable maul, the outstanding Neve Jones getting the ball down for an 8-5 lead for the hosts.
Ireland seemed to be in the ascendancy, but it was Scotland who came back the stronger after the break, Nelson punishing the home side’s ill-discipline with three penalties to make it 14-8.
