At 10.30am on Saturday, a train derailed at a station in Guizhou, killing the driver on the spot.
According to the information received, the seventh and eighth coaches of the train derailed just when the train reached the entrance of Uzai Tunnel.
Earlier, a similar train derailed in central China’s Hunan province. During the incident, a railway policeman was killed and eight others were seriously injured while 12 others sustained minor injuries.
Even then, the cause of the accident was incessant rains and landslides. On May 17, China Railways announced that the operating speed of the high-speed railway connecting Beijing with the southern Chinese province of Guangdong would be increased to 20 kilometers per hour. According to Chinese Railways, it will become the fifth high-speed train in China to run at such a high speed.
