Mukesh Ambani and Anant Ambani donated Rs 5 crore to the relief fund
Guwahati, Chief Minister Himant Biswa Sarma has thanked Reliance Industries Chairman and MD Mukesh Ambani and his son Anant Ambani for their financial help to Assam, which is facing severe floods.
Chief Minister Himant Biswa Sarma said in a tweet that he thanked Mukesh Ambani and Anant Ambani for standing with the people of Assam in this important time by donating Rs 5 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. He further said that we appreciate this kind of work.
This will go a long way in helping our flood relief efforts. The flood situation in Assam was also severe on Friday, officials said. 4.5 lakh people in the state have been affected by the floods. According to officials, the Brahmaputra and Barak rivers are in full swing with their tributaries.
As flood waters are receding in some areas. Seven more people have died in the last four hours due to floods in the state. This brings the total death toll to 108. Much of Silchar, considered the gateway to the Barak Valley of Assam, is submerged.
The Assam State Disaster Management Authority said rescue and relief operations have been expedited with additional resources in the severely affected district and especially in Kachar district. According to officials, eight NDRF teams have been called in from Itanagar and Bhubaneswar for relief and rescue operations.
In which there are total 202 workers. Meanwhile, an army team of 150 members has been sent from Dimapur along with nine boats for a rescue operation in Silchar. The state government has started helpline numbers 071-212, 20101012 and 108 for information about the situation in the district.
Officials say about three lakh people are facing shortages of food, clean water and medicines. Because almost the entire city of Silchar is submerged.
