New Delhi,The Indian women’s cricket team defeated Sri Lanka by five wickets in the second T20 match played in Dambulla on Saturday. With this victory, the Indian women’s team has also won the three-match series. India won the first match of the series by 6 runs and the final match will be played on June 4 at this stadium.
In the second match, India held Sri Lanka to 18 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs and then lost 4 wickets in 19.1 overs to reach the target.
For the Indian team, Smriti Mandhana scored 4 off 6 balls with the help of 4 fours, Shefali Verma and S Meghna scored 12-13 while captain Harmanpreet Kaur scored an unbeaten 21 runs.
Despite losing wickets at the other end, Captain Kaur took advantage of his experience and played a restrained and match-winning innings. He hit two fours in 4 balls. Harmanpreet was awarded Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
Earlier, the host Sri Lankan team started better than batting first and scored 4 runs for the first wicket. But then the team collapsed.
