First incident of death in a kickboxing match
Bengaluru, a dangerous sport like kickboxing is becoming very famous these days. However, in a shocking incident in Karnataka, 23-year-old kickboxer Nikhil Suresh died within seconds of injuries to his face and head during an ongoing competition.
This is probably the first time in the country that someone has died in an ongoing kickboxing match. Nikhil was participating in the Karnataka State Level Kickboxing Championship. In the match that took place on Sunday, he got trapped in the ring after being punched on the face.
The video of Nikhil’s last moments trapped on the mat after being punched on the face has also gone viral. The deceased was practicing kickboxing for the past two years. In the video of his final moments, Nikhil can be seen lying in the ring motionless, with the referee declaring the fight over.
A trapped Nikhil lay motionless for a few moments as people rushed into the ring, suspecting that something strange had happened. He tried to wake up Nikhil, but he was not giving any response. He was shifted to a private hospital, where he was kept on ventilator.
Nikhil was brought to the hospital in a very critical condition. He was put on ventilator support. Doctors tried everything to save him, but he died on Wednesday. Nikhil’s father P Suresh has filed a police complaint against the organizers of the tournament and others in this matter.
He alleges that Nikhil died due to his negligence. However, it has been revealed that all the accused have disappeared after the police complaint was registered. After losing his son, Nikhil’s 62-year-old father is now appealing to people to keep their children away from dangerous sports like kickboxing.
