Mumbai, Three of the four ICC tournaments in women’s cricket from 2024 to 2027 will be hosted in the Indian subcontinent. India has taken the responsibility of organizing the ODI World Cup in 2025. Bangladesh has taken the responsibility of T20 World Cup in 2024 and England in 2026. Sri Lanka will host the T20 Champions Trophy in 2027.
The ICC says that who will host which tournament and when is chosen through a competitive bidding process. A sub committee of the board reviewed each bid very closely. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly was also present in this committee. ICC head Greg Barclay said that rapid development in the women’s game is one of the priorities of the ICC.
The board’s priority is to take this tournament to the world’s largest market and reach out to billions of cricket fans and strengthen the relationship with them.
Regarding India’s hosting of the grand event in 2025, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said that the board will leave no stone unturned to make this tournament memorable. With this plan, India will try to increase the popularity of ICC tournaments more and more.
He also said that the ICC is absolutely committed to hosting women’s cricket in India. India has every resource and will make the World Cup a success.
After the announcement of the hosts, one thing has come to light that Pakistan has not been given a single tournament. It is also possible that Pakistan did not participate in this bidding process.
