Mumbai / Cape Town, MI Cape Town today announced the signing of the first five players for the inaugural edition of Cricket South Africa’s T20 League. The players will join the #OneFamily team and adorn the iconic blue and golden colors of the game, which fans know as the MI franchise.
‘MI Cape Town’ includes three foreign players, one South African squad member and one South African uncapped player as part of the squad.
Mr. Akash Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Jio said, “I am extremely excited as we begin our journey to build the “MI Cape Town” team. With the signing of the players we have taken the first step towards building MI’s philosophy – we have a strong mantra and the team will be organized around it.
I’m delighted to welcome Rashid, Kagiso, Liam, Sam to the #OneFamily and to have DeWold on this new journey with us. We are confident that MI Cape Town, like the other two teams, will exemplify the dignity of cricket, playing fearless cricket and furthering its popularity among ardent cricket fans in South Africa and across the globe.”
The players who have been selected have been performing consistently over the years and the uncapped DeWold Braves had a successful season with the Mumbai Indians in 2022. As per the rules governing the T20 league, the players have been contracted before the auction.
