Kiev, More than 60,000 Russian soldiers have been killed so far in the Russia-Ukraine war, while more than 2,300 tanks have been destroyed. Out of which 500 Russian soldiers lost their lives in just 24 hours. These figures have been released by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, the veracity of which has not been confirmed. Meanwhile, a day ago, the Ukrainian army liberated the city of Lyman in Donbas from Russian occupation.
However, Russia claims that it has deliberately withdrawn its troops. Lyman was a bastion of Russian military operations in eastern Ukraine. Weapons, ammunition and logistics were supplied to Russian troops stationed in Ukraine from this city.
Ukraine’s seizure of Lyman also threatens Russian-occupied Donbas. According to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 500 of the 60,110 Russian soldiers killed in the war have died in the last 24 hours. Most of them died in Kramatorsk and Bakhmut regions.
The Ukrainian military claims that 2,377 Russian tanks have been destroyed so far. He said that many Russian fighter planes, hundreds of helicopters, missile systems, thousands of armored vehicles were also destroyed during the war.
The Ukrainian military said that Russian troops were being pushed back from their land and that the entire area under their control would be evacuated soon. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced today that the eastern Ukrainian city of Lyman has been recaptured.
He said in a social media post that at 12:30 pm Lyman was fully released from Russia. Thanks to our army!’ Zelensky said in his nightly address that the Ukrainian flag is already in Lyman. More Ukrainian flags have been appearing in the Donbass in recent weeks.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Constitutional Court today recognized President Vladimir Putin’s signature as a valid treaty annexing four regions of Ukraine.
The Court decided to recognize Ukraine’s Donetsk, Kherson, Lugansk and Zaporizhia as part of Russia in accordance with the Constitution of the Russian Federation. Namely, the presidents of nine NATO countries in Central and Eastern Europe announced today that they will never recognize the annexation of Ukrainian territories to Russia.
Also today, Russia launched a suicide drone attack on the home town of the Ukrainian president, Kryvyi Rih. The Russian army attacked a school this morning and demolished its two floors. Ukrainian Governor Valentin Reznichenko said the fire caused by the drone attack had been brought under control.
