(Agency) In Ottawa, Canada, many incidents involving hate crimes against Indians have come to light in recent times. In a recent incident, vandalism in a park in Brampton, Canada has come to light. This park is known as Bhagavad Gita Park.
India has strongly condemned the incident and called it a hate crime. The Indian High Commission in Canada has appealed to the police to investigate the matter and nab the culprits soon. In this regard, it has been said by the police that the permanent signboard is not yet ready in Sri Bhagwad Geeta Park. No signs of vandalism were found in the park.
The Indian High Commission in Ottawa said in a tweet, “We condemn the hate crime at Sri Bhagavad Gita Park in Brampton. We urge Canadian authorities and police to investigate and take immediate action against the perpetrators.
The park was earlier known as Troyers Park. It was renamed Sri Bhagavad Gita Park and inaugurated on 28 September. Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown confirmed the vandalism at the park. Condemning the incident, Brown said that we have zero tolerance for it. We have learned that the symbol of the recently unveiled Sri Bhagavad Gita Park was vandalized.
