Mumbai, The auction of the next season of the Indian Premier League i.e. IPL 2023 will be held on December 16 in Bengaluru. The home and away format of the tournament will return after three years. This year each team will play one match home and one away. This format was running from the beginning but due to Corona, the tournament could not be organized with this format after 2019.
The 16th season may begin in the last week of March. After 2019, the next two seasons were held outside India. The 2021 season started in India, but the season had to be shifted to the UAE due to the Corona infection. The 2022 season was held in India, but matches were played in only three cities. The playoffs were organized at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The teams got a salary purse of Rs 90 crore in the mega auction for IPL 2022, but for this year’s auction it may be given Rs 95 crore. A mega auction was held last year, but a mini auction will be organized for this season.
Ganguly, in a letter sent to state associations before stepping down as president of the Indian Cricket Board, said that this time the league would be organized in a home and away format. So before the IPL 2023 mini auction, the trade window has opened, in which teams can release players or sign players from other teams. HS1MS
