Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin has imposed martial law in four regions bordering Ukraine. He has signed a decree regarding this order this afternoon.
Ukrainian forces are advancing rapidly into the Russian-held regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson. Ukraine has recaptured most of these four territories that were forcibly annexed by Russia. Meanwhile, Putin’s decision is being seen as a decisive step for Russia in eastern Ukraine.
Evacuation of civilians from Russian-occupied Kherson has begun. Local authorities, backed by Russia, claim that people are being moved to safer places to protect them from attacks by the Ukrainian army.
European countries fear that Putin may use low-yield nuclear bombs after evacuating local residents. On the other hand, the Indian government has also advised the Indian citizens in Ukraine to leave Ukraine immediately.
“I have signed every decree imposing martial law in these four regions of the Russian Federation,” Putin said. It will immediately be sent to the Federation Council for approval and the State Duma will be informed of the decision. The Russian Parliament is known as the Duma.
During a televised conversation with members of the Security Council, Putin also pointed to the establishment of a special coordination council under Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to increase Russian aid to the occupied territories of Ukraine.
The committee will oversee the assistance provided by Russia in Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson. The Indian Embassy has issued an advisory on Wednesday appealing to Indian citizens to leave Ukraine as soon as possible.
The embassy has also stated that the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has intensified due to which Indian citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary travel to Ukraine as well. In addition, Indian nationals should follow the security guidelines issued by the Government of Ukraine and local authorities.
Putin’s new commander in charge of the Russian military in Ukraine has begun evacuating Ukrainian citizens from Kherson. These citizens will be resettled in other territory occupied by Russia itself.SS1MS
