England won the toss and invited Babar Azam’s team to bat first. The Pakistani team could only score 137 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. However, Pakistan tried to strike back and put England under pressure by taking important wickets early on.
But Ben Stokes kept one end and scored an unbeaten half-century to give the team victory. England won the match and the T20 World Cup trophy by scoring 138 runs for five wickets in 19 overs.
The target was 138 runs against England and the estimate that Alex Hales and captain Jas Buttler batted against India in the semi-final made such a target easy for them. However, the Pakistani bowlers fought back. Shaheen Afridi collected one run off Alex Hales.
Then Philip Salt was also dismissed after scoring 10 runs. Jace Buttler tried to take over but Harris Rauff collected it in the pavilion to put England on the backfoot. Buttler scored 26 runs off 17 balls which included three fours and a six. For England, the bowlers put in a strong performance but Ben Stokes put in a brilliant performance with the bat.
