Kabul, The United Arab Emirates may recognize the Taliban government of Afghanistan. Taliban Acting Defense Minister Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob met with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan in Abu Dhabi. The speculation has since taken hold.
Mullah Yaqub is the son of the late Supreme Leader of the Taliban, Mullah Umar. The Afghan Defense Ministry released a statement in Kabul saying the two leaders discussed strengthening ties and expanding bilateral cooperation during their visit on Sunday.
