Celebration of birth centenary of Pramukh Swami Maharaj at United Nations
(Agencies) New York, United Nations Headquarters New York jointly organized the birth centenary celebrations of Swamiji Maharaj, President of the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha in the United States and the Amrit Mohotsav of Azadi going on in the country. On this occasion Swamiji’s life message was conveyed to the people sitting there.
India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ruchira Kamboj, ambassadors of various countries, representatives and volunteers of BAPS were present in this ceremony organized with the message of The World is One Family.
Dr. BAPS volunteer and cardiologist at Northside Hospital Cardiovascular Institute in Atlanta. Kashyap Patel inaugurated the program with welcome speech. In which he introduced Pramukh Swami Maharaj, human endeavors for social and spiritual upliftment and his life work.
On this occasion, a video of President Swami Maharaj’s speech at the United Nations Peace Millennium Summit on August 29, 2000 was shown. In which he appealed to the religious leaders around the world to have a meaningful dialogue with each other to maintain the rich diversity.
In his address, the Under Secretary General of the United Nations, Miguel Angel Moratinos, called President Swamiji Maharaj the message of the timeless spirit of the world and said that now is the time to come together.
