Nalanda, Have you ever heard of elephant wearing shoes? So today we are going to tell you something that you will not even believe after hearing it. Yes, this is beyond imagination, but it is true. The shoes on Gajraj’s feet will soon hit the streets.
Pebbles and stones will not pierce his feet when the largest animal on earth walks in these, and his feet will not burn on paved roads in the intense heat. This idea of making shoes for elephants came to the mind of Akhtar Imam of Gaya, Bihar. He is the owner of four elephants.
He felt the pain of the elephant walking barefoot in the scorching heat and decided that he would devise a solution for it that would keep Gajraj’s feet cool and comfortable. Airawat Trust President Akhtar Imam is also an elephant expert. He said that he has started a new initiative to make shoes for elephants to make it difficult for them to walk on paved roads.
He said that there are many elephants under surveillance, but Moti, Ragini and Betty are very close to him among his elephants. The elephant named Betty is now in Bodh Gaya. This is a young elephant. He said Moti and Ragini’s foot sized shoes are ready. When the daughter’s feet have been measured. Shoes are also being made for it. A shoe made of leather weighs about 10 kg.
They have entrusted shoemaker Anirudh of Moratlab, a famous leather market in Nalanda’s Bihar Sharif, to make shoes for the elephants. For this, the craftsman first measured the feet of the elephant, then started making shoes for it. Earlier, 105 artisans used to earn daily income from this business, but due to rising inflation and construction of four lanes, it has reduced now.
Now only 25 to 30 shops related to this business are running here. The rest have left this job and migrated to other states in search of employment.SS1MS
