Bumrah played a total of 15 internationals in 2018, including five ODIs. He played three ODIs in South Africa and two ODIs in England. Despite playing only five ODIs, Bumrah has done something so amazing that even Wiz had to appreciate it. Wisden has declared Bumrah’s bowling spell against England as the best ODI spell of the year. It may be mentioned that Bumrah has now been included in the squad for the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka.
Bumrah bowled fatally against England in the ODI match played at the Oval on July 1. He bowled three maidens in the 7th over for just 19 runs and took six wickets. This is also the best performance of Bumrah’s ODI career. Due to Bumrah’s bowling, England’s innings ended at 110 runs. In reply, India won the match without a wicket in just 18.4 overs with the help of Rohit Sharma’s innings of 76 runs.
Bumrah had a break of about a month after completing the England tour last July and then returned in September with the three-match T20I series against Australia. Bumrah suffered an injury in that series and was ruled out of the Asia Cup. Now returning to Team India with a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka at India’s home ground.
