Gujarat’s challenge in the Under-11 boys and girls event came to an end as Gujarat’s Hridan Patel was defeated in the quarter-finals at the UTT National Ranking Table Tennis Championship held at the Sama Indoor Complex, Vadodara on Monday.
Ten-year-old Hridan from Surat faced Tamil Nadu’s V Krish where he faced a 0-3 defeat. Earlier in the pre-quarter finals, he performed brilliantly and secured a 3-1 victory over Uttar Pradesh’s Dev Tripathi to qualify for the National Ranking Tournament. Became the first player to enter the final. Ansh Khamar, Khwaish Lotia and Dania Godil, other players who entered the main draw, were also eliminated early.
Meanwhile, six players from Gujarat entered the main draw in the under-13 event. Ahmedabad’s Malav Panchal and Surat’s Samarth Shekhawat and Manav Mehta topped their respective qualifying groups and entered the boys’ event. Meanwhile, Surat’s Dania and Ahmedabad’s Jia Trivadi and Maubini Chatterjee won the qualifying round in the girls’ category.
