New York, Pakistan’s dangerous terrorist Abdul Rehman Makki has been placed on the list of global terrorists by the United Nations Security Council. According to the report, this is a major breakthrough for India after China blocked the proposal in June last year.
The United Nations said in its statement that on January 16, 2023, the Security Council Committee designated terrorist Abdul Rahman Makki as a global terrorist in accordance with resolutions 1267 (1999), 1989 (2011) and 2253 (2015) on ISIL, Al-Qaeda and Associated Persons.
Makki is known as a dreaded terrorist, working on a mission to radicalise youth to raise money, recruit and plan attacks, especially in Jammu and Kashmir. Makki is already listed as a terrorist by India and the United States.
Also, Makki is the brother-in-law of Lashkar-e-Taiba chief and 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed and has been serving in various senior roles in the terror outfit. According to the US State Department, in 2020, an anti-terrorism court in Pakistan convicted Makki in a terror financing case and sentenced him to prison.
Even before this, China is stopping the proposals coming from Pakistan against the terrorists. A joint proposal by India and the US to list Makkah under the UN Security Council’s 1267 Al-Qaeda Sanctions Committee was blocked by China at the last minute in June last year.
China has been blocking every time, but this time it didn’t. As if this time Makki is being included in the terrorist list, it is being considered as a big victory for India.SS1MS
