The Adani Sportsline-owned team will embark on the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League under the mentorship of Padma Shri Mithali Raj.
AHMEDABAD, Adani Sportsline, the Adani Group’s sports unit, has appointed former Indian women’s cricket team captain Mithali Raj as a mentor and advisor to the Ahmedabad-based Adani Group-owned team participating in the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League.
Mithali has received accolades along with many awards for her achievements and contributions to Indian cricket during her long career. Along with this, Mithali has played an important role in bringing women’s cricket into the limelight at the national and international levels.
As a consultant, Mithali will work to promote women’s cricket and help in the development of grassroots cricket in Gujarat.
Former captain of the Indian women’s team, Mithali Raj said on the occasion, “The inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League is a great step for women’s cricket. The partnership of the Adani Group with this is a great aspect for the game.” Mithali further said that, “Women’s cricket is progressing slowly.
While encouraging the young players to choose cricket as a professional career, it will encourage them. Greater participation of corporates can be a means of increasing India’s reputation. This level of influence can serve to strengthen the sport’s ecosystem as well as expand opportunities for female athletes.”

Mithali Raj, one of the legendary players of women’s cricket, started her ODI career with a century on debut. Mithali is the highest run scorer in women’s ODIs, while she has 17 half-centuries to her name in T20Is. The veteran Indian cricketer has been the captain of the Indian women’s team that was the runner-up in the Women’s ODI World Cup in 2017.
She was also part of the Indian women’s team that reached the semi-finals of the 2018 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup held in the West Indies.
Adani Sportsline has teams in Kabaddi, Kho-Kho and men’s cricket. In addition, every year Adani Ahmedabad organizes a marathon in collaboration with the Indian Armed Forces.
