NEW DELHI, India’s leading airline and Star Alliance member Air India yesterday launched a four-times-a-week non-stop flight from Delhi to Milan. Air India launches non-stop flight to Milan boosts connectivity in Europe
In addition to Air India’s various flights from Delhi to Vienna and Copenhagen to be launched soon, this flight will significantly enhance the airline’s operations in Europe. Return flight AI 138 arrived at Delhi IGI Airport from Milan this morning.
Flight AI137 from Delhi to Milan operates on Wednesdays, Fridays, Sundays and Mondays. It departs from Delhi at 1420 hrs and reaches Milan at 1830 hrs (LT). Return flight AI138 will depart from Milan at 2000 hours on the same day and reach Delhi at 0800 hours the next day.
Operated by state-of-the-art B787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, the Delhi-Milan-Delhi sector service with 18 business class and 238 economy class seats will fulfill the aspirations of millions of tourists, businessmen and corporate travelers from both countries. Tourists from India can easily reach popular cities like Zurich, Rome, Florence, Vienna, Venice, Monte Carlo, Munich, Budapest, Geneva, Cannes and Copenhagen by road.
The Indian diaspora, which has a significant segment in Italy, as well as Italians wishing to travel further to various cities in the Indian subcontinent and various centers in Southeast Asia, East Asia, Kathmandu and Australia will benefit from this non-stop flight between Delhi and Milan. Air India will also offer attractive promotional fares on this route due to encouraging response from both the countries.
Flight AI137 took off to Delhi’s IGI Airport yesterday with 204 passengers on board after an inauguration ceremony was completed in the presence of Air India’s Chief Customer Experience and Global Head of Ground Handling Mr. Rajesh Dogra.
Along with senior Air India officials and executives of GMR and AISATS, Shri Dogra lit the lamp and cut the ribbon on the occasion. A large designer boarding card was also presented to the first guest reporting for the flight at the specially decorated counter at T3.
This was the highlight of the first flight – a specially curated menu combining Indian cuisine with authentic Italian cuisine to give guests a complete dining experience on board.
The flight received a warm welcome at Malpensa Airport in Milan, where various dignitaries gathered to mark the occasion. Return flight AI 138 departed Milan with 249 guests and landed at Delhi at 0800 hrs IST.
With the resumption of these flights, Air India serves 7 cities in Europe with 79 weekly non-stop flights, including 48 flights to the United Kingdom and 31 flights to Continental Europe. Service has expanded as airlines continue to grow fleets with leased aircraft and existing aircraft return to active service.
