New Delhi, Indian vice-captain KL Rahul’s performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been poor. Not only this, he could not look great with batting in ODIs and T20s as well. In the first innings of the Nagpur Test against Australia, the cricketer was dismissed after scoring only 20 runs.
He wasted 71 balls to make these 20 runs. Even after such performances, he is continuously getting a place in the playing eleven and questions have been raised for this.
That said, the team management is still in favor of giving him more chances. Batting coach Vikram Rathore supported KL Rahul and said that he will not be dropped from the team now. Vikram Rathore supported KL Rahul and said that ‘To be honest, he has two centuries and two half-centuries in his last 10 Test innings.
Scored centuries in South Africa and England. I don’t think we are in a position to question his exclusion from the playing XI right now. Vikram Rathore also praised Rohit Sharma who scored a brilliant century against Australasia.
He said, ‘It was a special innings of his and it felt good to score runs. You showed good passion and it was a very important innings because it was not easy to bat on this pitch’. Rohit has played many brilliant innings but three of his centuries stand out, including the 161 in Chennai, the century at the Oval and the century on a slow pitch on Friday.
Rathore further added that ‘this is the specialty of his batting. He has scored runs on England’s fast pitch but if we talk about his innings, he had to work hard to score runs. Rohit initially played easy after scoring some runs but on the Nagpur pitch he had to work hard’.
Asked whether Akshar Patel was given priority over Kuldeep Yadav because he was a good batsman, he said, ‘Akshar is also a good bowler, so his batting was not considered. His batting bonus is’.SS1MS
