SHE’S been hearing everyone talking about how “reasonably priced” Marks & Spencer is.
So instead of shopping in her usual Tesco, Lucy decided to give the upmarket grocery store a try to compare prices.
She was “really impressed” by the price of this microwave rice, which is just 75p a pack[/caption]
She took to TikTok to share a video detailing the shop, as she began: “We’ve come to M&S to do our food shop this week, so let’s see if it’s as reasonably priced as everyone says.”
Lucy began the haul by picking up a bag of the Easter-themed Percy Pigs, admitting it would be “rude not to”.
‘Then we went over to the fruit,” she said.
“Look at these Tutti Frutti grapes – they looked so yummy but I didn’t get them because they were quite pricey.”
She picked up a chicken in a bag, which were “more expensive than Tesco by like a couple of pounds”, but she said that “we do like them”.
She also bought some sea bass fillets – two for £4.50 – and some salmon, which was two for £5.50.
Lucy got some carrots, cucumber and sweetcorn, before getting some of M&S’ own brand Oat Milk.
“Obviously M&S don’t stock all brands – usually I have Oatly but I thought i’d give their oat milk a try and see how it is,” she said.
She got some mashed potato, which was £2 for a small pack, after admitting she was ” in mash heaven”.
“Then I was very impressed by the price of this rice, I think it was 75p per one,” Lucy said, holding up a bag of microwave wholegrain rice and microwave golden vegetable rice.
“I have been seeing the M&S cleaning range all over TikTok so I had to check it out and just got some washing up liquid,” she said.
And Lucy concluded her video by revealing the total price for the haul.
“In total, it cost us £67.44 which I think is so good and on par with Tesco,” she said.
Lucy captioned her video by writing: “Weekly food shop haul but make it marks and spencers… i am SHOCKED at the price!!!”
“That’s really expensive,” one person commented on the video.
To which Lucy replied: “We actually spend more on this on our tesco shop! I think it’s reasonable.”
“That’s expensive for that food,” another argued.
With Lucy responding: “We bought more than I showed but it’s actually really reasonable.
“We got 5 dinners and lunches.”
“No competition, M&S wins hands down for quality,” someone else commented.
“Love M&S it’s not expensive if you stick to basics,” another added.
“I think what you got is really reasonable for a weekly shop, that’s usually ours as a fam of 3,” someone else said.
“M&S unlocking new shoppers,” another comment read.
“Honestly though, I could get a full trolley in Lidl for that price…but it’s all relative I guess, M&S is quality!” someone else added.
With Lucy arguing: “I think the quality of Lidl veg and fruit is really poor but their meat and fish is ok!”
