Australia’s home department is continuously rejecting visa applications of students from these 4 states including Kashmir. Last month, four Australian universities accused Indian students of misusing student visas. He said – people are coming to Australia for jobs instead of studying with student visas.
The University of Western Sydney said many Indian students enrolled in 2022, but left their studies midway. The university told agents that most of the students who did so were from Punjab, Gujarat and Haryana. The ban on students from these states will continue till June.
The admission policy is being made stricter to prevent this from happening again. A report by the Department of Home Affairs states that 1 out of every 4 student visa applications from India is fraudulent. Due to this, the rejection rate of applications for study in Australia has also increased to 24.3%, which is the highest in the last 13 years.
According to a Sydney Herald report, Australian universities are completely dependent on agents for overseas student admissions. Both the student and the university approach the agents for admission. In return, the university pays a hefty commission to the agents.
The report states that in 2022, the former Prime Minister of Australia, Scott Morrison, made a significant change in the policy of working foreign students. After that, the demand for student visa increased. Indeed, under the new change, the restriction on foreign students studying in Australia to work was removed.
