A CLASSIC 1970s prawn cocktail starter, followed by steak and chips with peppercorn sauce and an apple crumble has been voted the perfect dinner.
Researchers surveyed Britons to reveal the ultimate starter, main course, and pudding for a dream three-course meal.

The dream first course nabbed 40 per cent of the vote — beating spring rolls into second place.
When it comes to the favourite main, 51 per cent voted for a medium rare steak, with lasagne next on 38 per cent.
The poll of 2,000 Brits by Rodda’s Cornish clotted cream found apple crumble and custard top dessert on 39 per cent.
Sue Cobbledick, Marketing Director at Rodda’s, said: “We were intrigued to uncover the quintessential recipes which resonate with the nation.
“The combination of tender steak, perfectly paired with a luxuriously creamy peppercorn sauce, claimed its place at the top of the list.”
The survey also revealed that 85 per cent of Brits elevate their meals with indulgent ingredients.
