AN Aperol Spritz has been a staple part of our summer diet for a few years now, but it’s time to shake things up.
Jump on board the Aperol Spritz alternative bandwagon – you’ll have seen them all over TikTok, but here are our fave five.
For that bitter, botanical hit, there’s a brand-new gin launch that will appeal to fans of Aperol, or why not swap oranges for lemons and find a whole new colourway to work with?
And if you’ve got some leftover Pimm’s in your booze cupboard, we’ve got just the spritz for you.
There’s even a new pink spritz on the block, with a little more pep that your standard pink fizz.
There’s a spritz out there for everyone – which one will you try next?
The Limoncello Spritz
Google searches for “limoncello spritz recipe” have soared by more than 50% in the last three months – so much so, you’ll now find it on the menu of many bars and restaurants, including London’s leading Italian restaurant, San Carlo.
San Carlo’s group bar development manager, Francesco Putignano says: “Bubbly and reminiscent of the Italian Southern coast, it’s sweeter than an Aperol Spritz, as Limoncello is made from vodka, lemon zest and sugar.”
To make your own, fill a wine glass with ice, pour over 50ml limoncello, then top with 60ml prosecco and 30ml soda water, stir and garnish with a sprig of thyme.
Italian Riviera vibes incoming!
The Gin Spritz
The new Tanqueray Paradiso, £27, from Sainsbury’s, is set to inject some carnival spririt into your summer, thanks to its blend of Brazilian guava, lemongrass and, of course, the brand’s London Dry gin.
According to fans, it “captures the taste of sunnier climes without the need to step on a plane”.
Add 50ml of the spirit into a glass, along with 10ml lemon juice and 5ml sugar syrup, fill with ice then slowly add 90ml prosecco and 40ml soda water, stir and garnish with a long lemon twist.
Summertime in a glass!
The Pimm’s Spritz
You’re no doubt familiar with Pimm’s, but you’ve probably never had it as a spritz.
The quintessential British tipple makes for a deliciously refreshing spritz – just mix ice with 50ml Pimm’s No.1 with 2tsp strawberry jam, 4-5 basil leaves, juice of half a lemon, soda water and garnish with fresh strawberries.
It looks gorgeously fresh and summery!
The Martini Spritz
White Lotus actress Simona Tabasco is already a massive fan of this retro Italian spritz – and who can blame her?
She’s even got a spritz named after her!
To make the Martini Simona Spritz, mix together 50ml Martini Bianco, 50ml prosecco, 50ml soda water and a dash of chilli, add lots of ice and garnish with fresh mint and chillies.
It’s a guaranteed way to spice up your summer.
The Vodka Spritz
If you’re a rose wine fan, then this is the spritz for you.
It contains the UK’s first luxe blush vodka – Rozel Rose Vodka, £26 – inspired by the raspberry and white peach fruits of Cotes de Provence rose wine.
It’s a great option for taking along to a barbecue or party, as the chic bottle is bound to impress.
For a refreshing spritz, try 50ml Rozel Rose Vodka with 200ml Fever-Tree Raspberry & Rose Lemonade, garnished with fresh raspberries.
Insta perfect.
