Dhaka, Bangladesh Nationalist Party chief Khaleda Zia has been released. In his first address, he thanked the people of the country, who have eradicated misrule and corruption from the country. He said that we do not need destruction or anger but love and peace to restore the country.
Sheikh Hasina's biggest opponent Khaleda Zia has been freed amid political upheaval in Bangladesh. In his first statement after his release, he thanked those who “struggled to make the impossible possible”.
He said that restoring the country needed to establish “love and peace”, not through “hatred” or “revenge”. Khaleda Zia is the president of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and was convicted in a corruption case in 2018. She is 79 years old and has appealed to people to establish peace.
He thanked the people who prayed for his release. Khaleda Zia said, “I have been released. This victory gives us new possibilities to emerge from the rubble of looting, corruption and misrule.
We need reforms to make this country prosperous.” The BNP chief said, “Youth is our future. We will build a democratic Bangladesh to fulfill their dream, for which they have shed their blood. No destruction, anger or revenge, we need love and peace to restore our country.
“Khalida Zia, who was sentenced to 17 years in jail in 2018 during the government led by Sheikh Hasina, had to resign from the post of PM on Monday and leave the country. He was in jail for two years. His sentence was suspended in an executive order on March 25, 2020, which was later extended for a period of six months.SS1MS
