New Delhi, Bangladesh's ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, two of her senior ministers and six others, including the sacked police chief, will face murder charges. This is the first case filed against Hasina since she resigned and fled to India on August 5.
The case has been filed against Hasina and six others in connection with the death of a grocery shop owner during last month's violent clashes. Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chaudhary has ordered the police to file an FIR, a court official said.
The accused in the case are Awami League General Secretary and former Road Transport Minister Obedul Quader, Home Minister Asaduzman Khan, sacked Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abdullah Al Mamun, Dhaka Police Commissioner Habibur Rahman, Additional IGP Haroon and Additional Joint Commissioner Biplab Kumar.
The two ministers are believed to have fled the country secretly. Even the police officers have no address. Such a serious allegation may make it difficult for Sheikh Hasina to return to Bangladesh.SS1MS
