New Delhi, India and the UK will launch a joint Commonwealth Diplomatic Academy program to train young and new diplomats from both countries. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and his British counterpart Liz Truss announced plans to set up a new academy after a meeting in Rwanda last week.
The purpose of this academy will be to jointly promote the values of the Commonwealth. “Graduates of this program will play an important role in uniting the Commonwealth in support of self-determination,” Truss said.
“In the current geopolitical world, we must uphold the commonwealth values of democracy and sovereignty, the UK and India are helping to build a modern Commonwealth in line with the 21st century and strengthen our members,” he said.
