The university academic was arrested in 2019 and charged with possessing images and videos of child abuse and bestiality.
Ahead of a court hearing last year he took a letter to Swansea police for the “Head of CID”.
It warned if charges were not axed Ash would “create an earthquake” by publishing material of cops engaged in sex acts.
Ash, 41, from Swansea, reached the BBC show’s quarter-final in 2016.
He boasted that judge Gregg Wallace thought his pudding was one of the best he’d ever tasted.
At the city’s crown court he was convicted of possessing indecent images and extreme porn, and attempting to pervert justice.
The court heard officers raided his partner’s home and seized a number of electronic devices in April 2019.
Prosecutor James Wilson said child abuse images were found on a hard drive and computer tower from a garden office.
He is in custody for sentencing on June 19.
