Prime Minister Modi will meet US President Jay Biden on June 22. President Biden and his wife and US First Lady Jill Biden will welcome the Prime Minister to the White House. A high-level conversation between the Prime Minister and the US President is going to take place here. A state dinner has been organized for the PM at the White House. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the state dinner will be attended by hundreds of guests – members of Congress, diplomats, celebrities.
The Prime Minister’s program on June 22 also includes an address to the US Congress. Leaders of the House of Representatives and the Senate invited the PM on the demand of the US Congress. Meanwhile, Kevin McCarthy of the House and Chuck Schumer of the Senate will be present.
The next day, June 23, Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken invited him to lunch. Most of the Prime Minister’s time will be spent with Joe Biden. The PM’s visit to the US could also see some important deals, including the Su-9 Reaper drone. The Indian Ministry of Defense has approved the purchase of 18 drones, but the final decision is to be taken by the Defense Acquisition Council. The deal is likely to be finalised.
