At home, the Jaiswal family is keen to put up a strong performance
Gandhidham: Surat’s Burhanuddin Malubhai will play as the top seed in Men’s and Under-19 in the Microsine 4th Gujarat State Table Tennis Tournament to be held from July 13 to 16 at SAG Sports Complex, Bhavnagar, under the auspices of Gujarat State Table Tennis Association.
This tournament has got the support of Sports Authority of Gujarat. Ahmedabad’s Mauboni Chatterjee, who has performed brilliantly in the previous two tournaments, will lead the way in the U-17 and U-15 girls’ events. He will be keen to continue his great performance in Bhavnagar as well.
Bhavnagar’s favorite TT family i.e. Jaiswal family will go full force in this tournament which will be held at their doorstep. This includes Gujarat table tennis veteran Jignesh Jaiswal, 44, who finished third in the previous tournament. They will try to put up amazing performances keeping age aside.
Jignesh’s two daughters Namna and Rhea Jaiswal are ranked third and fourth respectively in the women’s category and will take inspiration from their father to perform well. Namana’s excitement will be high as he was recently selected in the Indian team for the World University Table Tennis Tournament. The tournament is scheduled to be held in Chengdu, China from July 28 to August 8.
Another player from Bhavnagar, Jaya Jani, is the top seed in the U-17 and is the favorite to win the title.
Surat’s Filzah Fatima Qadri is making a comeback with this tournament after missing the previous three state ranking tournaments.
There have been 591 entries for the Bhavnagar tournament. State tournament is being held for the first time after 2018 in Bhavnagar.
