Did you know there’s a European city where a pint of beer costs less than a bottle of water in the UK?
The average cost of a pint in the UK is a whopping £6.09, but you don’t have to go far for the prices to come down – way down.
And when you’re not heading to a pub, there’s lots to do… in fact, Debrecen is home to a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Hortobagy National Park, which is north of the city centre, is a huge area of plains and wetlands, and home to some pretty impressive wildlife. Lucky visitors will spot water buffalo, cattle and horses, ridden by traditional herdsmen known as Csikós.
Luckily, the Hungarian city is pretty easy to reach, with Wizz Air operating return flights from London Luton for less than £100.
If you don’t fancy Hungary, research by travel comparison site dealchecker has revealed some other places to grab a cheeky cheap pint.
Tenerife is already popular with British holidaymakers, and the city of Puerto de la Cruz can expect a few more visitors, as they take second place, with the cost of a beer at just £1.60.
Finally, in at number four is the Croatian capital, Zagreb. Located in the north of the country, pints there will set you back just £2.50.
So rather than head to your local boozer this weekend, you might want to book a flight instead…
