Steph (@stephcooksstuff) shared the video with over 550,000 TikTok followers.
The frugal chef revealed that she was able to whip up meals for $10.50 AUD, or $7.07 USD, per person using ingredients from Aldi.
Her full-course menu included stuffed turkey breast, creamy broccoli bake, honey carrots, duck fat potatoes, gourmet gravy, custard with a twist, and kringle plum pudding.
“I’m going to show you how to make a fabulous dinner under $42 [AUD, or $28.28 USD] for four people in the air fryer and you are going to nail it,” she said.
Steph included a shopping list and a list of items she used that she had handy at home.
At Aldi’s, the content creator picked up frozen stuffed turkey breast, duck fat potatoes, 500 grams of baby carrots, broccoli bake, instant gravy, kringle plum pudding, and vanilla custard.
On hand at home, she gathered a tablespoon of butter, a quarter cup of honey, one lemon, two tablespoons of spiced rum, a splash of white wine, salt and paper, and olive oil.
Once she had the ingredients all in order, Steph got right to cooking in her air fryer.
For the turkey breast, she cooked the frozen turkey at 340 degrees for 90 minutes and let rest for an hour.
“This made the turkey super juicy and freed up my air fryer for other goodies!” she said.
Next up, the creamy broccoli bake took much less time: “Tossed the bag’s contents into a silicone container, air fried at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Remember to stir halfway for that perfect cook,” she said.
The same could be said for her honey carrots: “Sliced the carrots, mixed them with salt, pepper, olive oil, and honey, and air-fried at 200 degrees Celcius for 25 minutes. A mid-cook stir is a must!”
Other entrees included duck fat potatoes, which she air-fried at 400 degrees for 27 minutes, and gourmet gravy.
“I jazzed up the instant gravy with 2 tablespoons of white wine and a tbsp of butter. It’s a game-changer and tastes homemade!” she said.
For dessert, Steph even threw together two different options for guests with a picky sweet tooth.
For her custard, she mixed in spiced rum and lemon zest. For her kringle plum pudding, she wrapped it in foil and air-fried at 320 degrees for seven minutes.
“This meal is not only a feast for your taste buds but also super easy on your wallet! Enjoy your Christmas dinner with all the joy and none of the stress!” she said.
People were blown away by her creativity and thanked her for the meal inspiration.
“You’re amazing!! Great tip,” said one commenter.
“That’s pretty darn good,” agreed another.
Some, although appreciative, said the meal idea wasn’t for them, but not because the food was lacking.
“No, I’ve given up this year. I booked a 19-day cruise and someone else is cooking for me. Lol,” joked one commenter.
