A SAVVY saver has shared the four things you need to stop buying when doing your food shop.
So if you want to save money on your groceries, you’ve come to the right place.

Kathryn Leech, who is also known online as ‘Kat Saves’, revealed the four supermarket buys that according to her, simply aren’t worth the cash.
The bargain hunter, who is from Manchester, regularly shares her top tips and tricks on ‘how to shop smarter and save money’ on social media.
Previously we saw Kat warn against prep-pared fruit pots, as well as smoothies.
But now Kat has shared how you can get pizza even cheaper, as well as the fruit and veg mistakes that many people make.
Sharing her advice online, Kat said: “What not to buy if you’re shopping on a budget.”
Ready meals
Although ready meals are super convenient, according to Kat, they’re a waste of cash.
She explained: “Now I know we all have a ready meal when we’re’ being a little bit lazy or if we just don’t have the time to cook, we want to buy ready meals, but honestly, they are so overpriced.
“They are so expensive, if I was on a budget, I would just meal prep.
“You can make your own pasta, pasta bake, lasagne, so much cheaper and you get so much more for your money.
“If I was on a budget, I would not be buying ready meals.”
Branded pizzas
Not only this, but according to Kat, it’s time to ditched the branded pizzas and search the fresh pizza counters for the best deals.
She added: “I’m talking specifically about the Goodfellas pizza, the Chicago Town pizzas – you do not need them if you’re on a budget.
“The cheap pizzas are absolutely fine. You can get some really, really good supermarket own-brand pizzas.
“I would even suggest the pizzas from the pizza counter – the fresh food, hot pizza counter, that they do in most supermarkets. The Sainsbury’s one is really really good.
“I would definitely recommend that if you want pizza, instead of buying those branded pizzas.”
Bananas in plastic packaging
If you’re a fan of bananas, Kat shared the common mistake that is wasting your cash.
The money-saving whizz advised: “Guys, you do not need to buy bananas in the plastic, it is such a waste of money.
It is so much better value for money if you buy them loose
Kathryn Leech
“Especially if you know you’re going to buy six bananas in plastic and you know you’re not gonna use them all by the time they go off.
“It is so much better value for money if you buy them loose, because you buy them based on weight.
“And if you know you’re only going to need three, for example, then you can just buy three loose bananas.
“It is so much better for the environment and it is saving you a little bit of money.”
Pack of three onions
Finally, if you’re someone who regularly picks up onions when doing your food shop, you’ll need to listen up.
According to Kat, it’s time to ditch the three pack of onions, as she concluded: “Those onions that come in a pack of three are literally such a waste of money.
“It is so much better value and so much cheaper if you buy them loose or if you buy them in the kg bags.
“I have literally bought a loose onion before for 5p, so I would literally never buy onions in the pack of three.”
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @katsaves, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed almost 10,000 views.
One person said: “I see this AFTER I’ve done my food shop.”
However, someone else added: “Can usually get Goodfellas pizza on offer, they were in the Morrisons four for £5 recently.”
Whilst a third commented: “I’m Vegan and wish I could get £1 cheap value pizzas.”
