FIVE SAS soldiers have been arrested on suspicion of committing war crimes allegedly linked to operations in Syria.
The group of special forces members are understood to have been held by British military cops.
It is unclear if the arrests will lead to prosecution because war crimes convictions of British soldiers are extremely rare.
The MoD did not comment on the investigation – but military sources told The Guardian that the reports were accurate.
An MoD spokesperson said: “We hold our personnel to the highest standards and any allegations of wrongdoing are taken seriously.
“Where appropriate, any criminal allegations are referred to the service police for investigation.”
The SAS has been deployed mainly in Syria for the past decade – supporting the Syrian Democratic Forces in their fight against ISIS.
