Brentford is definitely one of London’s less well-known areas, due to its varied mix of architectural styles and mishmash development history. However, it has plenty to offer renters and buyers looking for a convenient and different kind of West London setup. We ask the residents who know the area where the best places to live in Brentford can be found.

10 best new build homes to live in Brentford

Let’s dive in and see what this historic West London suburb has to offer. The following list of the top 10 best places to live in Brentford is based purely on the views of HomeViews reviewers living there. If there are any developments that appeal, just click for a closer look. This will take you to their dedicated page complete with a full list of reviews and comments.

What’s it like living in Brentford?

Firstly, where is Brentford, exactly? It sits just above Kew and below Ealing in West London, and the heart of the Brentford lifestyle is the snug suburban feel of cosy pubs, inviting shops and reassuring brickwork. Still, Brentford is growing fast. The quieter parts are quickly being surrounded by newly constructed smart apartment blocks and offices.

This means that there’s plenty of traffic and development to consider, as Brentford continues to adjust to its new shape. Still, it also means there’s a lot of choices for property hunters looking for the best places to live in Brentford. There’s a widening range of options, from reliably appealing apartments to luxury, gated developments like The Island on Tallow Road.

As for the daily lifestyle, Brentford combines a comfortable range of local attractions with easy access to the rest of London. You can enjoy charming Thames walks, tranquil pubs such as the Griffin and Lord Nelson, and almost Putney-esque levels of green space. Syon Park is a regular favourite, and the famous Kew Botanical Gardens are conveniently close at hand.

What is Brentford known for?

Historically, Brentford is best known as a waterside hub, as the River Thames and River Brent flow into the Grand Union Canal. Today you can still see plenty of Brentford’s boating legacy in its pretty houseboats and canalside decorative areas.

Along with its budding arts scene, Brentford enjoys a reputation for attracting big companies looking to headquarter here. Sega, JC Decaux, Sky and the massive pharmaceutical firm GlaxoSmithKline call Brentford home.

Brentford’s beloved football club have also recently put themselves on the map in a big way. In 2021, Brentford FC joined the Premier League for the first time since 1947.

What’s the average property price in Brentford?

Property prices in Brentford run quite a wide range, from quite affordable to mega expensive. Overall, Rightmove puts the Brentford house price average at just over £682,000 for July 2024. However, you can still find plenty of appealing properties in the £400,000-£450,000 bracket.

If you’re looking to rent property in Brentford, expect to find a respectable range of options. The average rental rate here is £2,600 PCM for 2-bedroom properties, around 15% below the London average.
