New Delhi, Cases of fake ghee, fake pan masala, fake doctor, fake police officer have been caught in Surat city so far. Now the case of fake Surat Municipal Corporation employees being caught has come to light.
In Sarthana area of Surat, three fake employees were arrested by Sarthana Police of Surat, who were extorting money from people in exchange of food safety license by wearing clothes similar to the uniform of Surat Municipal Corporation.
Advocate Rohan Goswami and two women accompanying him were pretending to be food safety officers of the Surat Municipal Corporation and asking the shopkeepers to obtain licenses from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India.
Shopkeepers were charged Rs 2,780 for one license and fake FSSI licenses were given to shopkeepers in return for the money. Importantly, these three were charging Rs 100 online and Rs 2680 separately from the shopkeepers as fake officials.
At present, Sarthana Police of Surat has arrested this gang and interrogated the accused for further investigation regarding how many shopkeepers they have cheated in this manner in which area so far.
Sarthana Police Station Inspector M.B. Jhala says that even though he was not an employee of the Surat Municipal Corporation, he used to pass himself off as an employee of the Municipal Corporation by wearing a uniform worn by an employee. They used to cheat the people by taking money from the customers to get the license of Food Safety and Standard Authority of India to the shopkeepers.
The gang has been arrested by Sarthana police. The gang also includes two women. Rohangiri Goswami, Komal Parmar and Shobhana Jalodhara have been arrested based on a tip-off by Sarthana police. Importantly, the main accused Rohangiri Gauswami himself is an advocate and lives with his family in Ishwarpark Society in Punagam area in Surat.SS1MS
