Treasure isles
SMUG ex-Tony Blair lackey Jonathan Powell, who gave away our Chagos Islands for Labour, clearly finds the anger amusing.
He says they are “tiny islands” no one goes to, and that Britain loses more land through coastal erosion.
Labour gave away the strategically vital Chagos Islands and left taxpayers to foot the bill[/caption]
Will he still be sniggering if China DOES build a facility there to spy on the crucial US/UK Diego Garcia airbase?
We now learn that is a genuine fear in Washington, despite the Americans’ public agreement.
Why did we ignore their private warning?
Why is Powell pretending Mauritius and Beijing are not allies? They are.
How much must taxpayers give Mauritius for us to use the land we have gifted them (despite their claim’s feebleness)?
And how can Labour justify continuing to hide those sums?
Cops’ justice
TWO cops should not have been fired over the stop-and-search of black Olympians Bianca Williams and Ricardo Dos Santos.
The evidence that the officers lied about that incident was fatally flawed, as the Police Appeals Tribunal has found, overruling the original misconduct panel and reinstating them.
The Met Police Federation fears they were the victims of a “political witch- hunt” whipped up by social media.
What’s certain is there are plenty of real rogues and criminals who need rooting out of that force without ending the careers of two apparently dedicated coppers who did not deserve it.
Broken news
ONE minute the BBC apologises for letting a violently anti-Semitic Iranian regime stooge rant without challenge on Radio 4’s Today.
The next it’s breathlessly going live to Iran’s evil Ayatollah Khamenei as he declares that Hamas’s slaughter and rape of Jewish women and children last October 7 was “correct, logical and lawful”.
This terrorist filth was presented dispassionately as “breaking news”, as if it were a statement from the White House.
If Israel blows Khamenei to bits the world will rejoice . . . Iranians included.
But not Jew-hating Islamists, nor gullible liberal dimwits at the BBC.
Last orders
LABOUR may think pubs are over-reacting to the peril from its outdoor smoking ban.
They should hear the distress calls to the British Beer and Pub Association.
Soaring energy bills and rates were bad enough.
This may be the last straw.
Absurdly the Health Department still insists it needs to protect us all “from the harms of second-hand smoking”.
What drivel. No one gets cancer from second-hand smoke OUTSIDE a pub.
They must rethink — or face the wrath of every community robbed of its boozer.
