During the Diwali festival, edible oil (corn oil) is being distributed to more than 74 lakh ration card holder families and surplus sugar to 32 lakh ration card holder families, according to the list of the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs.
According to the list, free distribution of wheat and rice during the Diwali festivities in the current month of October to more than 74 lakh ration card holder families of 3.68 crore population of 3.68 crore families covered under the “National Food Security Act” (NFSA) by the state government during the Diwali festivities in the current month of October. It is being done at reasonable price shops. Also about 8 lakhs of Antyodaya food of the state Scheme (AAY) families get 15 kg of wheat and 20 kg of rice per card, a total of 35 kg of food grains are distributed free of cost.
3.32 crore population of 66 lakh “priority house hold” (PHH) of the state got 2 kg of wheat and 3 kg of rice per person for a total of 5 kg of food grains per person. Thus, if there are five persons in a PHH family, 10 kg of wheat and 15 kg of rice are distributed free of charge, totaling 25 kg of food grains.
All 74 lakh families covered under NFSA are being distributed by the state government specially on the occasion of Diwali at a subsidized rate of Rs.100 per liter in 1 liter pouches per card at a much lower price than the market price.
BPL and Antyodaya families of the state got a total of 3.2 lakh families in addition to the quantity of sugar available, an additional 1 kg. 1 kg of sugar per card to families. Rs.15 at concessional rate and 1 kg per card to BPL families. Rs. 22 per kg is being distributed at a concessional rate.
Under the state government's scheme, 1 kg of chickpeas per gram card will be provided to all 74 lakh families under NFSA to provide protein rich diet along with “food security”. Rs. 30 per kg concessional rate and 1 kg per Tuverdal card. Rs. 50 per kg is being distributed at a concessional rate. Further, for the first time in the state considering the public sentiment, oiled tuver dal is being distributed, which is getting a very good response from the beneficiaries.
Under the scheme of the state government, double fortified salt 1 kg per card will be provided to every family eligible under NFSA and priority. Rs. 1 per kg is being distributed at a concessional rate.
Thus, the state government is continuously working to ensure that all the families get food security and nutrition security along with the priority families included under NFSA, so that the people can celebrate the festivals well by smoothly implementing the schemes of the Government of India and the state government.
