Picture this: it’s 10am and you’re floating in an infinity pool, gazing out over mountains and a rippling lake.
Instead of clocking on for a Teams meeting, you’ve got a date with a salt steam room, followed by a restorative cup of peppermint tea. You’ve swapped the rat race for a relaxing spa break.
All sounds dreamy, but incredibly expensive, right? Wrong. For just £60, all of this – and more – could be yours.
Hidden in a remote corner of the Lake District is The Falls Spa in Keswick, a luxury wellness retreat open to both hotel guests and the public.
The building, which combines classic Yorkshire stone with Alpine ski resort vibes, is surrounded by lush forests and greenery — there’s nothing but nature for miles.

But the best bit? It sits on the edge of the spectacular (and highly-Instagrammable) Derwentwater Lake. If you could bottle tranquility, this would be it.
Inside the spa, the serenity continues.
There’s a thermal suite packed with the usual non-negotiables, including a laconium, an aroma steam room, a herbal sauna, a Finnish sauna, an ice fountain, and heated loungers.
Outside, there’s a hydrotherapy pool and a hot tub, where you can enjoy refreshments from the Champagne Bar and Lounge.
To experience this luxury, you’ll need to book the 2-hour Spa Access package, which costs £60. Available seven days a week from 8am, you’ll have access to all the amenities listed, plus receive a complimentary hot drink.

You’ll be able to lounge in the bar, too, however extra beverages will cost you. But when you think about how much these treatments usually add up to, treating yourself to a £10 Aperol Spritz feels like a bargain.
The deal has already been snapped up by eagle-eyed travellers.
On Instagram, a woman called Susan said: ‘I was there in the summer and it was lovely,’ while another named Nicola gushed: ‘We need to go back!’
Others have already been planning their visit. Corina penned: ‘Next year: birthday destination,’ as Rachael echoed: ‘It would be rude not to.’
Over on TripAdvisor, the reviews are overwhelmingly positive, with guests calling the whole spa a ‘very special experience’.
However, others warned that a longer stay at the spa can be more expensive than it initially seems. ‘I’ve stayed here and it was incredible, but a lot more expensive than £60pp.’
If you do have extra cash to splash, the spa offers an array of treatments, from a bamboo full-body massage to ‘The Falls Deluxe Trio,’ where you can enjoy a back massage, a scalp massage and a mini-facial. Both come in at £100.
Meanwhile the ‘Journey of the Senses’ package, described as an ‘ancient Arabian wellness ritual designed for 2-4 people, combining mineral-rich clay, heat, and steam for a deeply relaxing and revitalising treatment,’ is £60.
While you’re in the Lakes, it would be silly not to explore this stunning part of the UK.
A while back, Metro mapped out the ultimate romantic road trip around Cumbria, where rolling hills, vast lakes, and pretty villages take over.
How to get The Falls Spa
The best – and easiest – way to reach The Falls Spa is by car.
Keswick does not have a train station. From London, the drive takes around five and a half hours. For those who don’t drive, the journey is a little longer.
A train from London Euston to Penrith (North Lakes) takes between three to four and a half hours, with one-way journeys starting from £33. You’ll then need to take a bus (X4 or X5) from Penrith Station to Keswick which takes around 40 minutes. Then, all you need to do is relax.
