London, The first ODI between India and England was played at Kennington Oval in London. 3 matches are to be played between both the teams. Indian team captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to field in the first ODI against England. Rohit Sharma said that Virat Kohli could not play due to groin pain.
In the first ODI, England were beaten by a huge margin of 10 wickets with 188 balls to spare. England batted first and the entire team was all out for 110 runs in 25.2 overs. In response, the Indian team won the match without losing a single wicket in 18.4 overs. Indian team has defeated England by 10 wickets for the first time in ODI.
Chasing an easy target of 111 runs, the Indian team started straight away. Both Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan took time to settle at the crease and kept their wickets safe. Rohit played pull and hook shots to hit a brilliant six and boosted India’s run rate. Rohit Sharma completed his fifty in 49 balls with the help of 6 fours and three sixes.
Rohit got good support from Dhawan. Both shared the 18th century partnership. England’s bowlers did not get any chance to dismiss these two batsmen.
Rohit Sharma scored an unbeaten 76 runs in 58 balls with the help of 7 fours and 5 sixes. On the other hand, Shikhar Dhawan scored 31 runs unbeaten in 54 balls with the help of four fours. England gave 7 extra runs.
England accepted the invitation to bat first, but their batsmen faltered against Jasprit Bumrah and Mohmand Shami. Jasprit Bumrah opened his account of wickets in the match by bowling Jason Roy in the second over. Roy could not open the account.
