FIFA suspends India’s national football federation “due to undue influence from third parties”. The governing body of the game has confirmed this. Why FIFA banned the AIFF.
The All India Football Federation’s suspension threatens the country’s hosting of the Under-17 Women’s World Cup to be held from October 11-30.
“The suspension will be lifted after ordering the formation of the FIFA Executive Committee and the Committee of Administrators to assume the powers of the FIFA Administration to exercise full control over the day-to-day affairs of the AIFF,” it said.
FIFA said the Under-17 Women’s World Cup “cannot be held in India at present as planned”. FIFA is in constant constructive contact with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in India and hopes that a positive outcome to the case can still be achieved.”
