New Delhi, The T20 World Cup is going to start from October 16 and for this the players of Team India have reached Australia. While the team is not out due to the injury of fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, information has come out that one more player has been injured.
Indian fast bowler Deepak Chahar has suffered an ankle injury, due to which he could not play in the first match of the three-match series against South Africa. It is not yet clear how serious his injury is. Chahar has been included in Team India as a standby player for the T20 World Cup in Australia and his contention as Bumrah’s replacement is being considered strong.
Let it be known that Chahar recently made a comeback in Team India during the Zimbabwe tour after an injury in February. He then played continuously for India in limited overs.
That being said, his injury again does not bode well for the team. Recently, Deepak Chahar bowled well in the three-match series against South Africa.
Along with taking three wickets, he also scored 31 runs in the final match. His comeback after injury was strong and he took 5 wickets in two matches on Zimbabwe tour. Deepak Chahar may not have got a place in the main T20 World Cup squad but he is one of the strong contenders to replace Jasprit Bumrah in the team. Chahar has been kept on ICC’s traveling reserve for this tournament.
Bumrah was injured during the T20 series against Australia. He suffered a back injury which later ruled him out of the T20 World Cup as well. Apart from Deepak Chahar, Mohammed Shami is also a strong contender to take his place.
Jasprit Bumrah tweeted his reaction on social media after being out of the T20 World Cup. In which he wrote, ‘I’m disappointed not to be part of the squad for the T20 World Cup this time, but thanks to my loved ones for the wishes and support. As soon as I recover, will go to cheer Team India.SS1MS
