Mumbai, An incident has come to light that a patient admitted to a hospital in Maharashtra’s Yavatmal district attacked two doctors with a knife. In this incident, the patient stabbed the doctor in the stomach.
When he stabbed the finger of another doctor who came to save the doctor. Both these doctors have been admitted to the same hospital in critical condition. The entire incident took place at Shree Vasantrao Naik Government Hospital around nine o’clock on Wednesday night. As soon as the information was received, the police rushed to the spot and took the accused patient into custody. Police are conducting further investigation. According to the police, the accused attacked the doctor with a fruit cutter.
Yavatmal SP Pawan Bansod said that the patient was admitted to the surgery department on Wednesday morning due to stomach infection. At nine o’clock in the night when two resident doctors came on rounds in the hospital, this patient asked them if I can eat an apple. But after the doctor examined him, he refused to eat the apple. Due to which the accused got angry.
In anger, he attacked the doctor with the same knife. The knife wound hit the doctor in the stomach. The patient also attacked the fellow doctor who came to save him after the sudden attack.
SP Pawan Bansod said that he has registered a case against the accused patient only after recording the statements of the victim doctors. The accused is currently undergoing treatment due to which the police have taken him into custody. The accused is also being treated in custody.
Apart from this, SP Pawan Bansod said that the police have investigated all these incidents. He still does not know under what circumstances the accused patient has committed this incident.
The Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors in a statement informing about the incident said that both the doctors are under arrest after the accused attack. But resident doctor JP Edwin’s condition has turned critical after he was stabbed in the stomach. As he is now out of danger but his condition is still critical.HS1MS
