Under this process, when a person turns 18, his name will automatically be included in the electoral roll. Similarly, when a person dies, the information will automatically go to the Election Commission, which will initiate the process of removing the name from the electoral roll. Officials said the bill to amend the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969, would also facilitate matters related to issuing driving licenses and passports, giving people the benefit of government welfare schemes, etc.
Shah said that if birth and death certificate data is specially preserved, development works can be planned properly by estimating the time between censuses. Amit Shah said, I have been involved with the development process for the last 28 years and have come to know that development in our country is based on demand. People’s representatives who had more leverage could benefit more from the development of their constituencies.
This is one of the reasons why our development has become fragmented and more expensive due to duplication. Along with the new census building, Amit Shah also inaugurated a web portal for registration of births and deaths. Collection of census reports, online portal for sale of census reports and upgraded version of SRS mobile app with geofencing facility were also launched.ss1
